This award winning project received Wisconsin Masonry Alliance’s 2018 Excellence in Masonry Award for Best of Concrete Masonry.
Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), the State of Wisconsin’s largest school district, demolished the 90 year old South Stadium and constructed a new, modern facility in its place. The new stadium hosts schools from across MPS and is the home field for Bay View, Bradley Tech and South Division high schools for football and soccer games. This is a catalytic project for Milwaukee and will serve as a beacon for the community for decades to come.
The new facility consists of consolidated team lockers, coaches and officials rooms, public toilet facilities and concessions in a single facility to serve both home and visitor spectators. A new multi-purpose synthetic turf field for high school level football and soccer was installed as well as aluminum bleachers, with seating for 2,500, ADA accessible pathways and ADA accessible press box with storage and film platform. Storage for athletic equipment was also incorporated. Approximately 2,500 bricks were salvaged from the original stadium for reuse as a gateway/entrance monument.
