Riverworks is an existing industrial area, centrally located in the heart of Milwaukee and adjacent to the Village of Shorewood. Within walking and biking distance of dense residential areas, redevelopment within this area has the potential to build on the success of existing businesses and revitalize the surrounding area.  The character of the area lends itself to a wide variety of users, with options for rehabilitation, as well as new construction.  American Design proposed several design schemes for the almost seven acre site at the corner of E. Capitol Drive & N. Holton St., each with their own combination of use types tailored toward the charette participants’ feedback.  In all schemes, a large existing warehouse on the site was adaptively reused.
