American Design consulted on this award-winning historic renovation of a previously converted industrial property, which originally housed the Nunn Bush Shoe Factory. Through a partnership comprised of Wisconsin Development and the non-profit Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation, the complex was converted to 59 affordable housing units and 38,000 square feet of office space, adhering to historic preservation criteria.  American Design was responsible for the office interior build-out; space planning for multiple tenants occupying three floors of commercial office space, along with common amenity spaces, and the corresponding construction documents.

In 2019 Welford Sanders Lofts won a Top Project Award by The Daily Reporter and won the Historic Preservation Excellence Award from the Wisconsin Association of Historic Preservation Commissions.
